It is very popular with both locals and visitors for there reasons. Clifton Beach is located in the heart of a 6 km long cove near the famous suburbs of Palm Cove and Kewarra Beach. Clifton Beach is situated about 22 km north of Cairns and 42 km south of Port Douglas. Clifton Beach is the ideal holiday base for visitors for exploring the Great Barrier Reef, tropical rainforest and the Atherton Tablelands, inland from Cairns. It is an ideal area for beach and boat fishing, Marlin and reef fishing, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, coral viewing. Inland there are many small village to explore on the Atherton Tablelands and white water rafting, rock climbing, ballooning and other extreme activities are all within easy reach. For those who enjoy golf and tennis, Clifton Beach is close to the magnificent Paradise Palms golf and tennis complex. The palm-lined beach is very clean and deep, and generally has a moderate swell from the southeasterly trade winds, and has a large pippy population (a local bivalve shellfish). Clifton Beach is bout 20 minutes drive north from Cairns. This beach has a stinger net during the summer stinger season.
