Greenwell Point is a delightful fishing village lying on the shores of the Crookhaven River, not far from the mouth of the Shoalhaven River, 15km east of Nowra. Greenwell Point is famous for its world-class fresh oysters, fish and other seafood and is heaven for fishing enthusiasts. Offshore lies the Sir John Young Banks fishing grounds, and there is ample boat launching and charter facilities available with access to the estuary and offshore for fishing and other water activities. There is a good range of conveniences available including a service station, newsagency, general stores, quality butcher, video hire, motor mechanic, hairdresser and real estate agent. With the wide variety of quality accommodation, including hotel, motel, caravan parks, cabins, holiday cottages and tent sites, there is plenty of places to stay. There are good facilities for all the family - playgrounds, parklands, beach, 25m pool, cafes and great fish and chips - all just a picturesque 10 minutes drive from Nowra. The Shoalhaven River produces Bream, Flathead, Luderick, Whiting and the occasional Mulloway in the deep holes. Try spinning the sandflats for Flathead or drifting for them around Pig or Numbaa Islands or O'Keefes Point. Bass anglers should try the upper reachers of the Shoalhaven west of Nowra Birdge using lures or live prawns. Shad Rock is a good spot to start.The image shows How Close
