The beach, estuary, river, rocky headlands and beaches provide excellent boating and fishing opportunities. River cruising, canoeing, surfing, swimming, camping and bush walking are very popular. There are several boat launching ramps at various points along the river, canoes can be hired at Nelson, and you can cruise up the river to see the National Park and visit the Princess Margaret Rose Cave.
