Pelican Flat is located near the entrance to Lake Macquarie on the Swansea channel. The site is backed by Little Pelican Reserve and adjacent to Belmont Airport. There is excellent swimming for family groups at Pelican Flat. There is a good and well used boat ramp in the area. Pelican has some fantastic protected beaches, inlets and coves.
