There are excellent boat launching facilities and the local anglers target tommy ruff, snapper, flathead, mullet and whiting. Sellicks Beach is only about 15 minutes away from the wonderful Mclaren Vale wine producing area, with its wineries, cellar doors and fine restaurants. The beach at neighbouring Aldinga Beach is wide and sandy and it too offers good swimming and boating facilities and a boardwalk through the dunes. The area is popular for diving and snorkeling with an Aquatic Reserve established to protect a rare reef formation about two kilometres off the beach.
