Shelly Beach is a special place on the Central Coast of NSW - a national trust-listed village, where cute old holiday cottages share space here with modern beach house architecture. Shelly Beach has become famous as a retreat for actors, writers and other creative types drawn by its natural beauty. Shelly Beach is located on a unique stretch of coastline between Patonga to the south and Umina and Ettalong to the north. Surrounded by Brisbane Water National Park, visitors to Shelly Beach are entranced as much by the natural bushland descending down to the secluded waterfront. Near the entrance to placid Brisbane Water, it has sheltered waters ideal for swimming and boating, yet surfing beaches are just minutes away. Towards the southern end of Shelly Beach is the action centre. With little swell, this sheltered area is a very safe spot for small children to splash and play. There's a 25 metre ocean rock pool and nearby there is a picnic tables, shower and toilet block and a playground area. Across the road is a lovely restaurant and a cafe. A 15 minute walk around the cliff face below Mount Ettalong Lookout, you will arrive at Umina Beach.
